Description

Five Scottish poets published by Bloodaxe read together at the SPL.

Tracey Herd was born in East Kilbride in 1968 and now lives in Dundee. In 1993 she won an Eric Gregory Award. Tracey Herd has published three collections with Bloodaxe. Her latest is Not in This World (2015), a Poetry Book Society Choice shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize.

Miriam Nash publishes her collection All the Prayers in the House this year on Bloodaxe. She was born in Inverness and spent her early years on the west coast island of Erraid. In 2016 she was Writer in Residence at Greenway, Agatha Christie’s holiday home.

Cheryl Follon was born in Ayrshire, and now teaches at a college of further education in Glasgow. She has published three collections on Bloodaxe, the latest of which is Santiago (2017). Much of her free time is spent travelling, and she was shortlisted for the Shiva Naipaul Memorial prize in 2012.

MacGillivray is the Highland name of Scottish writer, performance artist and musician Kirsten Norrie. Her second poetry collection The Nine of Diamonds: Surroial Mordantless was published by Bloodaxe.

Claire Askew’s debut poetry collection, This changes things, was published by Bloodaxe in 2016, and shortlisted for the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award and the Saltire Society First Book Award. Claire is the 2017 Jessie Kesson Fellow and was a 2016 Scottish Book Trust Reading Champion. Find her at @onenightstanzas
