The Women’s Network and Housing department are working in collaboration to promote the 2020 Blooming Strong Campaign. Wednesday 25th November marked the United Nations day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. As part of this, there is a global 16 day campaign to raise awareness of the need to end violence against women and girls.
Westminster City Council commissions services from Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse . Since 2014, Standing Together have supported this by running a “Blooming Strong” campaign to celebrate the strength of women who have survived gender based violence, or supported someone who has.
To mark the final day of the campaign, The Women’s Network in collaboration with Housing are hosting a Virtual Q&A with a stellar line up including:
Rebecca Vagi – Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse- Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse is a national charity working in partnership with organisations directly involved in delivering services, to coordinate their response to domestic abuse.
Halaleh Taheri – Middle Eastern Women & Society Organisation (MEWSo) - MEWSo have a mission is to support & empower BAME women in London to rebuild their lives. MEWSo are committed to the work to prevent & end abuse and violence against women, as well as providing services to meet the needs of survivors.
Catarina Sousa – Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP) – With services across London, DVIP have over 20 years experience of effective work with male perpetrators of abuse and with the women and children affected by their violence.
Come along, learn and ask questions on this hugely important issue - we hope to see colleagues from across all directorates in the Council! As usual, we encourage all genders to attend.
