About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Seafood could be a cornerstone of a robust and resilient food supply for the UK, if underpinned by sound food policy. Stakeholders all along the supply chain, including retailers and processors, are working to deliver UK seafood to the UK public. However, there remain points of disconnect in the UK between the fishing industry and the end consumers. This event will explore efforts to close these gaps across the supply chain, and discuss the role of policy and funding to secure fair prices for all, promote the value of sustainable seafood, and help overcome bureaucratic and logistical barriers.

This event marks the culmination of our Blue Food series, where we delve into the potential of seafood in addressing the complex challenges surrounding the future of UK food systems. The first two events focused on putting fishing on the food agenda, and spotlighting initiatives aiming to reduce carbon emissions and plastic use in the industry.
