Blue Smile Training: Skills in the Room
Sat 5 November 2016, 10:00 – 13:00 GMT
Keeping in mind the wider system: The importance of the child’s context
This is the first in Blue Smile’s Skills in the room workshops for professionals working therapeutically with children. It will be delivered by the very experienced Family Therapist, Vince Hesketh.
We know that working with individual children and adolescents can make a huge difference to their emotional wellbeing and resilience, but research shows that sensitive and skilled attention given at the same time to parents and carers can significantly improve outcomes.
Vince will discuss how practitioners can focus on the child’s experience while at the same time holding the whole family and the child’s relationships effectively in mind to inform the work.
He will also look at how best to engage parents in supporting the therapy process when they may at first find it challenging and even intrusive.
Attendees will be provided with lots of examples from Vince’s long experience, plenty of creative ideas and several practical systemic techniques to use in their own work.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is no parking at the venue but plenty of Park & Ride buses to nearby Emmanuel St and parking at the Grafton Centre Car Park
