Blueflint
Event Information
Description
After the success of their highly acclaimed debut album 'High Bright Morning,' their atmospheric and evocative live performances, Blueflint's much anticipated second album 'Maudy Tree' raised their profile even further, gaining the band plaudits throughout the music press.
Blueflint supported The Proclaimers for six weeks on their 2012 UK album launch tour, taking in venues as Edinburgh's Playhouse and London's Shepherds Bush Empire. Their performances proved them to be a formidable live act and gained them a strong reputation and following through the UK.
Their debut single "Take your shoes off," gained radio play on BBC Radio 2, ( Steve Lamacq) BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Ulster and many other local and national radio shows.
This Edinburgh based five piece band, intertwine banjos, fiddle, double-bass and drums to accompany the singers in beautifully-crafted songs. Blueflint swoop easily from the dark underbelly of folk to buoyant Americana-tinged ballads.
The sound of Blueflint is defined by the sublime close harmonies of Deborah Arnott and Clare Neilson whose voices, both ethereal and warm, interweave in ballads and songs of eerie melancholy and heartfelt charm.
Blueflint successfully thwart attempts at musical pigeonholing; their fresh and original sound refuses to sit squarely in any one genre, bringing an unexpected twist to the banjo sound and gaining them fans from across the musical spectrum.
