About this event
Join us Online for a Bluestar Project regional Pre-Trial Therapy & Support Services Training Day!
Learn confidence in pre-trial therapy guidelines and practical skills in providing a pre-trial response inline with our national best practice standards.
The Bluestar Project
Pre-Trial Therapy is any kind of therapy or support service accessed when a report of a crime is made to the police, while that case is under investigation, awaiting charge or a court date. We know that there are a lot of worries and myths out there about what pre-trial therapy is and how to provide it.
Our mission at the Bluestar Project is to ensure that every survivor has an offer of support pre-trial – ensuring recovery and agency within the criminal justice process.
In 2022, we were funded by the Home Office to develop research and best practice guidance for frontline services in line with the new CPS guidelines.
About the course
The Bluestar Pre-Trial Training Programme is a daylong evidence-based course which includes an overview of our national research (Keeping Secrets) and key principles from the CPS Pre-Trial Therapy Guidance. This interactive course provides practical examples and skill-share opportunities that will equip you with knowledge, experience, and resources to deliver a pre-trial therapy and support service according to the Bluestar National Best Practice Standards. The day focuses on teaching you how to implement our pre-trial toolkit. We cover:
- An overview of the criminal justice system
- CPS Pre-Trial Therapy Guidelines
- Defining Pre-Trial Therapy
- Contracting & Consent
- Note-keeping Pre-trial
- Dealling with Disclosures
- Responding to Notes Requests
Who the course is for
This open course is multi-agency training designed to support independent practitioners as well as professionals from key agencies supporting victims and families within the criminal justice process regardless of offence type. This includes: all therapy services (statutory, voluntary, independent), advocacy services and specialist services (e.g., ISVA, IDVA), social services, the Police, CPS and Judiciary. The course supports services working with victims of any age. The course is £130 per participant (exc. Eventbrite booking fee).
