Event description
This event will examine the blurred lines between Academia and Business, and the unique challenges faced regarding use and impact of AI.

About this Event

In partnership with World AI Week, Camb.ai presents Blurred Lines: The impact of AI in Business and Academia.

As AI is adopted by more businesses and researchers, it’s important to think about the impact, challenges and opportunities it brings. Chaired by Gemma Milne, this panel discussion will bring together Cambridge-based professionals and academics to examine such topics as: the impact of AI in both fields, how perceptions can drive or slow innovation and research translation, the ethics surrounding AI and data use, and how to best transfer intention through technology.

World AI Week is the World’s first week dedicated to AI. As the only UK event, we hope to showcase Cambridge as a world AI hub and a place where big questions can be asked. We might not be able to provide the answers, but we can promise good debate - and lots of questions.

This event will be recorded and released as a special podcast (via Science: Disrupt), so that those that cannot make it can enjoy the discussion too!

Panel Speakers:

Gemma Milne (Panel Chair) - Freelance journalist with Forbes and the BBC, Author, and co-founder of Science: Disrupt

Alexis Boukouvalas - Head of Machine Learning Engineering, PROWLER.io

Alexandra Brintrup - Lecturer in Digital Manufacturing, University of Cambridge

Michael Thornton - Student Fellow, Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence

Nick Walker - Chief Scientific Officer, Iprova

Running order:

5.30 pm: Doors / registration

6 - 7.30 pm: Panel

7.30 - 8.30 pm: Networking

NB - Parking is limited at the Bradfield Centre, so please read this to plan your journey.

This event is (unfortunately) not free. We've had to add a price to cover costs and to minimise drop-out. It should be a brilliant event, with really interesting debate, and I hope you all feel it is worth the fee.

We've added a limited number of student tickets at a lower price to improve access. If the student price is still a barrier to you attending, please send us a message.
