Event description

Description

“Practicing Medicine is a great privilege – but currently it often feels burdensome” – does this resonate with you?

This is a full day workshop for doctors from all branches of practice. During the day, three highly experienced colleagues will discuss ways to enhance your personal resilience and your enjoyment of life and medicine; helping you to remember some principles of health which apply to you throughout your career in medicine.

Participation in this workshop aims to be interactive, engaging and fun, providing tools and insights to help you combat the stress of medical practice. Through presentations, reflective group work, a choice of sessions in the afternoon and time to engage with each other, you will learn from professionals who care passionately about your well-being.

Dr Andrew Tresidder has been a Somerset GP for 29 years. His particular interest is the ‘Health of Health Professionals’, both hardware ‘body’ and software ‘being’. During the past 18 months he has been delivering very successful workshops for doctors across the south west and beyond.

Dr Maya Roberts is a semi-retired Consultant Psychiatrist and is currently writing a position paper for the Royal College. She will examine whether our brains are fit for purpose; the practical implications of neuroplasticity: applying mindfulness and insights from neuroscience to reduce stress and enhance brain fitness.

Dr Tim Battcock has been practising medicine for 36 years and is a Consultant Geriatrician at Poole Hospital. He is committed to medical education and supporting the development of doctors as leaders. He is the Head of the School of Medicine at HEE Wessex.

Take time out to enjoy the unique situation of the RNLI College in its striking position overlooking beautiful Poole Harbour – with its light spacious facilities and walkways right by the water - and nurture your own health for a day!

Designed for clinicians working in all branches of practice – whether hospital based or GPs – all are welcome and friendly networking is encouraged! Both BMA Members and non-Members are welcome. CPD points are being applied for. Refreshments and lunch included.
