BME Women and the Vote - International Women's Day 2018
Event Information
Description
What You Do Matters invites you to celebrate 100 years since women got the vote! For our first ever event in Parliament, we'll be exploring how women got the vote and what it was like for BME women at the time.
It wasn’t until 1928 that all women, irrespective of class and how much property they owned, got the right to vote. In 1969, the voting age changed to 18, allowing more people the right to vote. On 12th March, we’ll be discussing how far BME women have come since. With authors such as Reni Eddo-Lodge rapidly gaining recognition and Hollywood stars rising up and speaking out about racial and gender inequality – how far have we really come?
Tickets are free but you'll have to register through our Eventbrite page to get onto the guest list - spaces are limited so register ASAP! Tickets will be release Monday 12th February so watch this space!
The event will start at 7pm sharp but please allow extra time to get through security in Parliament. We'll be releasing more info about our guest speakers and spoken word artist soon!
