About this event
Over a year since BNG came into effect and it’s already delivering on its promise – driving vital nature recovery without obstructing essential development. BNG is now helping unlock the projects needed to meet the UK's ambitious development targets, including building 1.5 million new homes, and seeing our valuable habitats restored. Join us for our latest breakfast event where we'll be sharing everything you need to know about BNG in your area.
We've carefully selected speakers with local expertise to offer guidance on the planning, ecology, and legal aspects of BNG policy, along with everything they have learnt over the past year. They'll be there to give an overview of BNG, explain its requirements, and set out the most effective options for BNG delivery available near to you.
Attendance will be limited so you'll be able to speak directly with our experts who are ready to offer their support.
We’ll also be giving an exclusive virtual tour of our Ardingly Habitat Bank - a live and registered BNG site that’s already generating off-site Biodiversity Units and being supplied to help unlock development projects nearby.
Speakers
Nathan Jenkinson | Strategic Account Director | Environment Bank
Nathan will provide an update on the legislation relating to BNG, including clarifying what types of projects are legally subject to the regulations and where exemptions lie. He will also discuss the legal practicalities for securing and delivering BNG over 30 years. He will outline the practicalities of BNG, explaining the steps developers must take to ensure they meet regulatory BNG planning requirements and options for effective delivery.
Nathan will showcase Environment Bank’s national network of BNG Habitat Banks, and present recent case studies to show how developers have used the Biodiversity Units generated at Environment Bank sites to meet their BNG planning requirements.
Matthew Cameron | Senior Ecologist | Environment Bank
Matthew will explain the ecological strategy behind Environment Bank’s national network of Habitat Banks, focusing on a site near Sheffield. He will discuss the habitat types that we’ve created on the site and all aspects relating the management and monitoring.
