The Board Meeting should be the most important time for the directors to review progress and make critical decisions, as well as demonstrating good governance. Is it in your company?
In a lot of companies, the directors decide not to meet formally at all, and just rely on casual catch ups. In some others, there is a meeting, but it is just catch up chat. A few have a formal meeting and decide things, but progress is slow and actions don’t get done.
Whichever is true for your company, this seminar may be able to help. It will be presented by David Parry who has been chairing around 200 board meetings per year for over 10 years. It will share some best practice and give you some tips on how to improve the running of the company. The emphasis is on making the right decisions and getting the right stuff done.
Did you know that you should be recording discussions on certain specific items to comply with the Companies Act and to meet your duties as a director? The basics will be covered in the seminar.
This seminar is aimed at Managing Directors in particular, but would also suit other directors who are interested in taking the company to the next level. In some instances, Executive Assistants and Personal Assistants may also be able to attend with their director, spaces permitting.
The session will be cover these main areas:
Preparing for a meeting
Writing succinct Board reports
How to Chair an effective Board Meeting
Board Governance and Directors Duties
How to get the minutes out quickly
Capture the right actions
Following up on progress
Balance between Governance, Tactics and Strategy
There will also be a demonstration of the on-line software that Wellmeadow uses to make the task of co-ordinating and running board meetings easier (Magic Minutes).
