Event description

Description

Following a substantial refurbishment, Boardman House reopened its doors in November 2015 as home to Norwich University of the Arts' School of Architecture, with teaching space for Film and Moving Image, Animation, and Games Art and Design students.

Named after its original architect, the prestigious local man, Edward Boardman, the Victorian-era Sunday School building has undergone a remarkable transformation.

Local practice, Hudson Architects have brought new life to many original features, giving them a characterful, contemporary update. The double-height hall, already encircled by a wide gallery, is now dominated by an impressive sculptural staircase. Side spaces previously used as offices have been opened up to create an open plan environment for teaching.

The Grade II listed building is recipient of the RIBA East Award 2016, as evidence of the impressive nature of its redesign.

Tours of the building will be led by John Nortcliffe from Hudson Architects and will focus on the history and refurbishmnet of Boardman House, whilst showing off the impressive facilities now available to NUA students.

Address details will be given with your ticket.
