Bobbin Lace Pendant Workshop

Sunday 7th July | 9.30am to 1.00pm

Here is your chance to indulge in the wonderful craft of bobbin lace making. This short workshop run by talented tutor Suzanne will provide you with an introduction to the craft and bring together like-minded students to learn and share lace skills and knowledge in a relaxing informal surroundings of our stunning Nottinghamshire vineyard.

It is suitable for students of all levels of experience, including beginners. When you have finished your session you will have completed your own beautiful pendant, handcrafted by you.

What is Bobbin lace? – A lace textile made by braiding and twisting lengths of thread, which are wound on bobbins to manage them. As the work progresses, the weaving is held in place with pins set in a lace pillow, the placement of the pins usually determined by a pattern or pricking pinned on the pillow. All materials and light refreshments are included in the workshop price.

Outline of the morning

9.40 am Welcome and settle in

9.45 am Meet tutor Suzanne

Introduction to the bobbin lace materials, tools and ideas.

Start working on creation

11.30 am Tea & coffee and cake and a walk around the estate to stretch legs if you wish.

1.00 pm Home time and ready to show of your beautiful pendant. Perfect to wear for any occasion.

About Suzanne

Suzanne was introduced to Bobbin Lace just after her seventh birthday, and soon got involved in the Nottingham Bobbin Lace Society – Young Lace makers and Calverton Young Lace makers; which involved taking part in the English Lace School John Bull Trophy where the Calverton Young Lace makers won the Poole Trophy. The entry was a banner to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the invention of the stocking frame machine, by Rev William Lee of Calverton.

In addition to making items for her small business she also does a variety of workshops, taster sessions and talks on variety of crafts and techniques.

To ensure the quality of your personal experience, group size will be limited to 8.
