Haunting Nights Ghost Hunts Unlocking the darker side of Cornwalls history

With so many ghost hunters joining us in Cornwall at The Wellington Hotel in Boscastle the demand for Haunting Nights ghost hunts is taking us to the harrowing Bodmin Jail

Little introduction is required to this place of incarceration, torture and execution, Bodmin Jail has a sinister reputation across the UK

What remains today is a chilling reminder of Georgian and Victorian crime, punishment and execution

Built in the mid 1700s and extended several times due to overcrowding a reported 55 prisoners hanged at the jail from 1785 to early 1900. The last hanging was William Hampton.

Bodmin Jail has many ghosts who remain still protesting their innocence, with deathly screams and pleading voices still resonating around the old cells

Dark menacing shadows and the sound of rattling keys thought to be the jailer still today walking the landings of the old jail

In the naval wing speaking French has given some ingelligent responses on past ghost hunts here, with stones being thrown from the upper cells

Here are just a few of the spirits who are know to remain incarcerated within the walls of Bodmin Jail

Matthew Weeks (executed in 1844 for murdering his lover Charlotte Dymond)

Selina Wadge. She was hanged for the murder of her younger disabled son in 1887.

William and James Lightfoot both hanged for the murder of Nevell Norway.

Anne Jefferies who roams around the jail. Anne was left to starve to death as she did not admit to being a witch.

An unnamed prostitute who was wrongfully executed.

From our own experiences a ghost hunt at Bodmin Jail is not for the feint of heart, you have been warned
