Description

Body Image and Eating Disorders Awareness Week

Description of the week
The overwhelming evidence shows that the majority of women and girls are unhappy with at least one aspect of their appearance. This has many consequences, one of which can be a complicated and disordered relationship with food. Increasingly, men and boys are now beginning to experience similar issues. Unrealistic cultural ideals of beauty leave so many of us feeling unhappy with the way that we look and burdened with the many consequences to our health and wellbeing; particularly those of us who are already marginalised in society.

Body Image and Eating Disorders Awareness week is a week dedicated to challenging these unrealistic ideals of beauty and promoting acceptance of our appearance, ourselves and others. Beginning Monday 23rd February 2015, the week will comprise of practical workshops, research seminars, a film night and body acceptance campaigns.
