This is a half-day course for people working with children and young people in West Sussex.
This course is being delivered through a partnership between Coastal West Sussex Mind, Grassroots Suicide Prevention, YMCA Downslink Group, West Sussex County Council and West Sussex CCGs.
What is Youth MHFA Lite?
Youth MHFA Lite offers an introduction to young people’s mental health and to mental health issues.
What will I learn on a Youth MHFA Lite course?
The aims of Youth MHFA Lite are to enable participants to:
- Gain an understanding of some of the common mental health issues affecting young people, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders and psychosis
- Work more effectively with young people living with mental health issues
- Identify stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues
- Support young people with a mental health issue and relate to their experiences
- Experience a taste of the contents of the Youth MHFA course.
How will I learn?
The Youth MHFA Lite course is a three hour session.
You’ll receive a Youth MHFA Lite manual that you can take away with you at the end of the course and a certificate from MHFA England.
Getting to the Venue
Follow the brown signs to the Regis Centre. We are between Belmont Street and the Esplanade, There is a large car park next door.

Take a bus to Bognor Regis High Street. Walk east towards the main shopping parade (London Road) and turn right through the arcade. We are located at the end of the arcade (5 minutes walk).
Take a train to Bognor Regis station. Leave the station by the main exit through the booking hall. Turn left to the main shopping precinct (London Road). Cross into the arcade. We are located at the end (10 minutes walk).
Timings and breaks
The course runs from 1.30pm - 4.30pm
Tea and coffee will be provided in the mid-afternoon break.
Your £10 registration fee for this course helps towards the additional venue and refreshment costs. This is a non-refundable deposit.
Please notify us ASAP if you are unable to attend the course. As this is a funded programme our aim is to ensure all available places are taken up. Early notification may mean we can offer this space to someone on our waiting list.

We are an independent local mental health charity working in West Sussex.
We aim to promote good mental health through the provision of high quality services and through campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and understanding.
