Bollards, breweries and bullets: Richmond in the public records
Tuesday, 19 November 2013 from 17:00 to 19:00 (GMT)
Richmond, United Kingdom
The National Archives at Kew has ten million documents on all aspects of British history from great events that changed the world to incidents that have long been forgotten. Join Simon Fowler as he explores just a few files relating to the surprising local history of Richmond kept at TNA. Thrill to the stories of local war heroes, be amazed at staggering insights into the area’s buildings, and gasp with incredulity how centuries old records can still be useful today. This is a unique performance for Explore Your Archive week.
Simon Fowler worked at The National Archives on and off for over thirty years. He is now a professional researcher, writer and teacher specialising in history. Simon is writing the history of Richmond in the Second World War and is an active member of the Richmond Local History Society.
