About this event

Join us as we find out what the men, women and children of Bolton and Manchester rich and poor, would have eaten and drank over the Christmas period. Would they have eaten turkey and furmity? Or have drunk Smoking Bishop? And would the paupers in the workhouse have been allowed a pint of beer? All will be revealed.

We’ll be supplying a eighteenth century mince pie recipe, that your ancestors might have enjoyed. Why not make the recipe and join us to sample it during the meeting?

Sylvia Levi is an enthusiastic food historian with a particular interest in what our ancestors baked.

Simon Fowler is a professional genealogist, writer and tutor who enjoys his Roast Beef on Christmas Day.
