This event will launch the updated Bolton Child Protection Handbook and provide professionals with a clear understanding of how it strengthens practice across the borough.Key areas will include:

  • Child Protection Conferences – outlining the core processes, purpose and decision-making steps.
  • Practice Standards – setting expectations for how conferences should be planned and delivered to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Young People’s Participation – exploring how children and young people can be meaningfully involved in their own conference.
  • The Role of the CP Chair – looking beyond conferences to understand the broader responsibilities of the Child Protection Chair.
  • The Conference Journey – guiding participants through what happens before, during, and after a Child Protection Conference, with practical examples.

By the end of the session, participants will feel more confident in applying the handbook to their practice and supporting families and young people through the conference process.
