6:30pm-8pm, Ink Painting On Alternative Surfaces With Lauren Tompkins

8:30pm-10pm, Natural Inks & Dyes with Delaney Smith

Somehow, no matter how you combine them, natural pigments are harmonious. This is the magic of natural pigments. Learn how to create inks from everyday materials like avocado, onion skin, and rosemary. We will experiment with the natural inks on cotton paper using simple watercolor techniques.

FRIDAY SEPT 20

5pm-6pm, Merging Photography & Design with Temi Coker

This workshop will focus on how to turn your photography into a poster or art piece. This could be useful for those who make album covers and those who want to add graphic elements to their images. In this workshop you will learn how different elements in photography correlate with design and how to add design elements into your photograph to tell a story or evoke some type of emotion from your viewers.

Attendees will need to bring a laptop, and have Adobe Photoshop downloaded prior to the event. Photoshop offer a free 7-10 day trial which can be downloaded here.

7pm-9pm, Dyed + Coiled Bowl Weaving with Delaney Smith

Coiling is a traditional basketry technique, and in this workshop you will learn an adapted version to create a naturally dyed vessel for your home. We will use cotton fabric to coil a colorful, small bowl. No experience is necessary, and all materials are included in registration.

SATURDAY SEPT 21

11:30am - 1:30pm, Watercolor + Mindfulness

In this welcoming beginner/intermediate workshop led by local Dallas watercolor artist Brie Milam, you will learn to paint beautiful monstera leaves and create a final painting to take home with you! Perfect for both the artistic and the artistically curious, this workshop will focus not only on learning new techniques but also on simply enjoying painting as a form of mindfulness and relaxation.

Topics covered will include brush stroke techniques, wet-on-wet versus wet-on-dry painting, as well as color mixing to create endless color combinations with a limited palette. You will receive lots of hands-on instruction and help with your technique in an encouraging environment. This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to expand their creative skill set or try a new medium! (Students will take home: Their own finished final piece and Brie's instructional booklet on watercolor basics)

3:30pm - 5pm, Introduction to Modern Calligraphy

This introductory workshop is perfect for individuals who have always wanted to learn calligraphy but may not know where to begin. This workshop is fully hands-on, using classic tools of pointed pen calligraphy, traditional nibs and ink, to discover the basic strokes and techniques to form all the letters of the alphabet in a modern way. All supplies will be provided for use in the class.

SUNDAY SEPT 22

11:30am - 1:30pm, Yoga + Art

Join artist and certified yoga instructor Deepa Koshaley for this expressive workshop to unfold your creative self. Through rhythmic movements of yoga and artful meditation, you will create unique pieces of art. Deepa’s unique application of mindful self-expression in the context of yoga aphorisms will take you deeper into exploring your inner self through outward expression and creation. Yoga matts will be provided.

3:30pm - 5pm, Paper Embroidery

This introductory workshop will show you how to use simple stitches and techniques to transform vintage photographs using a needle, colorful embroidery thread, and sequin embellishments.
