Event description

Description

This February, Bombay Bustle, the Indian restaurant in Mayfair from Samyukta Nair, will be taking guests to the movies with the Bombay Talkies. Inspired by the original Bombay Talkies, the movie studio which revolutionised cinema in Mumbai in the 1930s, the subterranean bar of the Maddox Street restaurant will be transformed into a pop-up cinema for a series of film screenings throughout February, March and April.

Instead of tucking into popcorn, the films can be enjoyed alongside a glass of Laurent Perrier champagne, canapés and three course dinner created by Executive Chef, Surender Mohan. On arrival, Pappadums, Banana Chips and canapés of Adipoli Prawns and Parappu Masala Vada will start the evening before settling down in front of the big screen. During the film, guests will be served the first of course of their three-course dinner with a Samosa Papdi Chaat starter, followed by mains including Chicken Tikka Makhani, aromatic Malabar Lamb Curry or Mutter Paneer, served alongside spiced Aloo Methi, Dabba Dal, Kalonji Naan and Pulao Rice before finishing with a saffron-infused Jalebi Cheesecake.

Kicking things off on Monday 11th February, Bombay Bustle will be paying homage to their pastel interiors, with Wes Anderson’s critically acclaimed The Grand Budapest Hotel. Other films to be screened across the series include Mark Romanek’s 2010 adaption of Kazuo Ishiguro’s dystopian novel Never Let Me Go, Oscar-nominated Gravity and Yorgos Lanthimos’ 2015 dystopian black comedy The Lobster. The finale will take place on Monday 15th April, with a screening of Luca Guadagnino’s 2017 romantic drama, Call Me By Your Name.

Founder Samyukta Nair says, ‘The Bombay Talkies really set a standard for culture and entertainment in Mumbai, owing to the city’s love of cinema. In homage to this, we’re excited to launch the Bombay Talkies at Bombay Bustle, where guests can come and enjoy an evening of film and food, with a touch of glamour inspired by Bombay’s old cinemas of the 1930s.”

Tickets will be £52pp and will include: A glass of Laurent Perrier champagne and canapes on arrival and a three course meal. Bombay Talkies will be every Monday from 11th February – 15th April, arrival at 6.30pm for film starting at 7pm. Please visit www.bombaybustle.com for the full list of screenings and reservations can be made by emailing reservations@bombaybustle.com, or calling 020 7290 4470.
