About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

“Journeys are the midwives of thought.”

—Alain de Botton, The Art of Travel

From faraway destinations to events closer to home, places and journeys have long been a source of inspiration for writers.

During this 1.5 hour workshop before Rebel Soapbox, we will look at a variety of poems that capture the spirit of traveling, and talk about how to depict places near and far.

Using accessible creative writing exercises, writer and facilitator Demi Anter will guide us in finding new ways of communicating place in our writing, drawing inspiration from a wide range of poets, memoirists, travel writers and fiction writers.

All types of writers are welcome. This workshop is open to new writers as well as experienced writers.
