Event description

Description

Do you know that in the UK, osteoporosis affects over 3 million people? Yet, most of us take our bones for granted until they become weak and break. With fractures may also come long-term pain, disability, isolation and depression. The good news is that it is never too late to start protecting your bones. And it is easier than you think!

This talk raises awareness of the importance of looking after your bones not just in older age or in your 40s, when bone strength starts to decline, but at a young age when bones are developing and maturing (think of your younger loved ones).

The talk is informative, interactive and aims to make a positive impact on your wellbeing through empowering you to make the right food choices.

You will learn about:

  • Bone, its structure and density

  • Hormones playing part in bone metabolism and overall health

  • Risk factors for developing osteoporosis

  • Strategies for preventing and reducing symptoms of osteoporosis

  • Practical tips to reduce bone loss and enhance collagen support, including specific nutrients and their food sources

  • The role of exercise and sleep in bone health

  • Supplements to enhance bone strength and density

Apart from education, the focus is on practical side of things, including foods and products to buy and how to use them in your diet. And there is a tasting experience during the talk too!

You will receive:

- The presentation handout

- Handouts with specific foods and tips to enhance your wellbeing

Attendees can take advantage of £10.00 off Initial One-to-One Consultation based in Egham or £5 off Personal Shopping Trip, both by Nova Nutrition.

Testimonial

Vera did 3 informative talks at Fitness for Women Egham - Metabolism and hormonal balancing, The Peri/Menopause - a natural approach and Bone Health - preventing Osteoporosis. Each talk was so interesting and the feedback from the members was excellent. Vera makes it easy to understand and gives practical advice. She gave many ideas on diet and nutrition to help improve hormonal imbalances and she even brought along some snacks to try. Though my background is in health and nutrition, I still learned many new things. I would highly recommend these talks and not just for women of a certain age. Bone health, for instance, needs to be considered when one is younger to prevent Osteoporosis in the long run.
