About this event

‘Mary Moorhouse was a beautiful woman of thirty. She was in danger of becoming a saint. Like most saints, she was quite devoid of humour...’

- Antimacassar City, Guy McCrone

She may appear saintly, but she could quite easily get away with murder.

Inspired by the eldest of the Moorhouse sisters, we invite you to the Dining Room of Holmwood, where you will be given the opportunity to design your own book bag inspired by Holmwood’s iconic interior designs. Join us for a hot drink afterwards in our cafe, included in your event ticket.

Our Wax Fruit weekend is celebrating the re-publication of Guy McCrone's trilogy of books. First published in the 1940s, it tells the tale of the ambitious Moorhouse family, as they navigate the world of 1870s Glasgow.
