Book launch and listening party: Where We Come From

Come join us at Bookbag to launch Where We Come From by writer and journalist Aniefiok Ekpoudom, a new book that that chronicles the roots of UK hip hop and grime from pirate radio in Birmingham, UK Garage crews in South London, to the global grime superstars we see today. We'll be discussing the political, social and cultural landscapes that created the conditions for these phenomenally successful music genres, alongside stories of the artists involved.

Playing tracks featured in the book, and joining in the conversation, will be sound artist, producer, and DJ, Jason Singh. Devon-based Singh has been working in music for over 20 years, and appears fresh from headlining Southbank Centre, the Royal Albert Hall, with artists like Nitin Sawhney.

Chairing the conversation will be Bookbag's Malcolm Richards, a music enthusiast, skilled orator on UK Black studies, and self-proclaimed expert in 90's r&b and hip hop.
