Description

This is a free event, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Arts Council.

From 1937 to 1945 a celebritiy couple lived at Woodlands, Roundwood Road, Baildon. Basil Hughes was a well-known surgeon and his wife, Norah Blaney had been a famous West End star and recording artist.

Author Alison Child is launching her new biography of Norah Blaney, and Norah's on-and-off stage partner, Gwen Farrar, 'Tell Me I'm Forgiven'. Baildon’s Philip Jones has independently researched the life of Norah’s husband, Basil. This event offers a chance to discover more about this unlikely couple and their remarkable lives.

There will be performances of music from the 1920s and 30s, readings, film footage and photographic displays.

Light refreshments will be served and there will be a cash bar.

The event will be BSL Interpreted.
