Event description

Description

An evening of presentations and discussion in conjunction with the publication of ‘Designing for Service: Key Issues and New Directions’ published by Bloomsbury 2017 and edited by Daniela Sangiorgi and Alison Prendiville.

The evening will be opened with the two editors providing an overview of the origins and thinking behind the book and the timeliness to problematize this academic and practice space. Four of the book’s contributors, Stuart Bailey, Lucy Kimbell, Camilla Buchanan and Ian Gwilt will give a short presentation from each of the four sections that structure the book; The lay of the land in designing for service; Contemporary discourses and influence in designing for service; Designing for public and social spaces; Designing for service, shifting economies and emerging markets.

With 36 international academic and practitioners contributing to seventeen essays, the book provides a timely point to reflect on the continuously evolving field of service design, open up discourses and conclude with a much needed redefinition.

On the night books will be on sale at a discount but promotional flyers will also be available with a discounted promotional code.
