Description

A reception to launch the publication by Oxford University Press of a two-volume collection of essays by Professor Sir Roy Goode, CBE, QC, FBA

Fundamental Concepts of Commercial Law: 50 Years of Reflection

-and-

The Development of Transnational Commercial Law: Policies and Problems

The publication will be launched by The Rt Hon Lord Kitchin, Justice of the Supreme Court. Chairman of the Centre’s Advisory Council and former member of the Council of the College, by which he was awarded an honorary LL.D.

These two works represent a selection from Roy Goode’s influential writings over more than half a century on commercial law and over a period of some 30 years on transnational commercial law, which he created as an academic subject through its introduction into the Oxford postgraduate law programme in the mid-1990s and which is now taught at numerous law schools around the world. His textbook Commercial Law, now edited by Professor Ewan McKendrick, is widely used by scholars, students, practising lawyers and the courts and has remained the leading textbook on the subject since it was first published in 1982.
