Description

Join the Centre for Comparative and International Research in Education (CIRE) for a very special celebration: the launch of 'Long way from Adi Ghehad: journey of an asylum seeker' by Dr Teame Mebrahtu.

This book traces the life journey of Dr Mebrahtu from his home in the highlands of Eritrea to his work as a teacher trainer in Addis Ababa to his his PhD and academic career in the Graduate School of Education, University of Bristol, and the life lived in between.

Prior to his doctoral work at the Bristol, he was targeted by the Mengistu regime in Ethiopia, and was granted asylum in the UK. His experience as a refugee underpinned his later work with refugees, asylum seekers and integration in the United Kingdom, his field of expertise and scholarship. This book, more than two years in the writing, pays homage to his incredible life journey and extensive contribution to the Graduate School of Education and global discourse surrounding refugees.
