Event description
Linen Press is delighted to announce the launch of Ann Oakley's new novel: The Strange Lockdown Life of Alice Henry.

About this event

Join Linen Press and Ann Oakley at Highgate Civic and Cultural Centre for the launch of Oakley's latest novel.

There will be discussion, readings and questions from the audience.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Wry, achingly funny and with razor-sharp observation, Oakley sets her long-awaited new novel, The Strange Lockdown Life of Alice Henry, in the time of the pandemic lockdown.

Seventy-four-vear-old Alice Henry tries to maintain some resemblance of her normal life but is ambushed by family, friends and events beyond her control. Her obsession with solving the mystery of a decapitated woman on a railway line is both a new direction and an escape from life's absurdities.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

In a distinguished career lasting nearly sixty years, Ann Oakley has produced many trailblazing publications. Since her novel The Men's Room was serialised by the BBC in 1991, she has written six successful novels.
