Event description

Description

The Patients Council at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital has been collecting stories, artwork, photography, and poetry by people who have experienced longer stays in the hospital, as well as writing from staff members. Part of the Stories of Changing Lives series, these are being brought together as a book and a film.

Join us to celebrate the launch of both - hear readings from the book, see the film, and, of course, pick up your copy. Whether you'd like to hear from people with similar experiences to you, understand more about what it's like to spend time in hospital, or find out about the ways in which people live well and shape services - everyone is welcome!

You can see photographs and artwork from the book, plus objects and testimonies from the history of activism at the Royal Ed, as part of the Out of Sight Out of Mind exhibition at Summerhall throughout SMHAFF, Wed 11–Sun 29 Oct, 11am–6pm. The exhibition is free.

Accessibility: step free access, accessible toilet. Please get in touch if there is anything we can do to make the event more accessible to you.

We will also be holding a preview event at the Hive, in the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, on 19th September - all welcome! Info and tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/preview-stories-of-changing-lives-3-tickets-37065631301
