You are invited to the Launch of Tastes of Honey: The Making of Shelagh Delaney and a Cultural Revolution, the new authorised biography by Selina Todd (Chatto & Windus, 2019)

This celebratory evening will feature a roundtable discussion with Selina Todd, Rob Lees (Artistic Director, MaD Theatre Company), DJ Lippy, Vanessa Maria (musician) and Jenna Omeltschenko (Touring Partnerships Manager on the National Theatre’s new production of A Taste of Honey), with music and performance by MaD Theatre Company. The author will also be signing copies.

Tastes of Honey: The Making of Shelagh Delaney and a Cultural Revolution

Salford-born Shelagh Delaney changed the 20th-century cultural and social landscape and put working-class lives centre stage…

Todd’s new book is the first official biography of Delaney and the story of how a working-class teenager stormed theatreland, and what happened next.

Delaney’s life and work reveal why women of her generation were provoked to challenge the world they had grown up in. Exploding old certainties about class, sex and taste, Delaney blazed a new path – redefining what art could be and inspiring a new generation of writers, musicians and artists.
