The Incredible Machines of Thinkery: DOUBLE BOOK LAUNCH!
I would be delighted if you could join me for the launch of the second book in The Incredible Machines of Thinkery series - Future's End, and the audiobook of the first - Outpost 9. I will be in conversation with Simon Sylvester, a local writer and a genuinely lovely person who understands the perils of turning to face real people after months of hiding behind a Word document!
Simon is a writer, filmmaker and teacher. His first novel, The Visitors, won The Guardian Not The Booker prize, and his short stories have been published in Dark Mountain, Gutter, New Writing Scotland and many others. He lives in Cumbria.
Paperback copies of Future's End and Outpost 9 will be available to buy on the day, card payments are accepted. The audiobook of Outpost 9 will be available to download on all the usual suspects - Audible, Spotify etc.

FUTURE'S END Synopsis:
The year is 1894.
Two years since heartbroken carpenter Edwin Cooper might have become a widower. Two years since self-willed airship pilot Nell Sykes might have become the other woman.
The all-seeing, all-powerful Institute of Thinkery has lost its top Thinkery scientist - Professor Crowleigh. He is somewhere in Denmark, tenuously connected to eight bodies. Manipulated by The Institute into finding Crowleigh, Cooper learns the truth he thought he wanted, a truth that collides with the life he shares with Sykes. Hope is replaced by heartbreak, a trade of emotions that spins him into a darker world.
The body count climbs. The Institute claws closer. Who, and what, is Professor Benedict Crowleigh Can a man who is the enemy, be the man who leads Cooper towards a life of happiness?
OUTPOST 9 Synopsis:
The Institute of Thinkery is on the verge of a ground-breaking, technological breakthrough.
An international Thinkery network.
The year is 1892. Life in Manchester is hard for impoverished carpenter Edwin Cooper and his wife Betsy. Hope of a better life arrives when The Institute of Thinkery recruits Betsy for a new research programme, and posts Edwin overseas to staff Outpost 9 – a tiny cabin on a tiny island in the Wadden Sea.
The pay is good but the work is hard. It gets even harder when two bodies wash up onshore, casting dark shadows over his life, bringing unsettling doubts and unanswered questions to all he needs to hold true. Is Betsy safe?
Desperate to be reunited with Betsy, Edwin battles against distance, heartbreak and an Institute that will stop at nothing to keep him from uncovering the dark truth behind their new Thinkery technologies.
