Join us for an evening to celebrate the publication of 'dance as if'.
Inspired by a collaboration with the dancer/choreographer Kyra Norman, 'dance as if' sees esteemed poet Katrina Naomi exploring new territory in pamphlet form as a follow-up to her widely praised fourth full collection Battery Rocks (Seren, 2024). This will be Katrina’s second pamphlet with VERVE, after the wonderful Typhoon Etiquette published in 2019. 'Dance as if' sees movement and emotion transformed into absorbing poetry.
Katrina is an award-winning poet, performer, mentor and judge. Her latest full collection’ Battery Rocks’ came out with Seren in 2024 and received the Arthur Welton Award from The Society of Authors. Katrina’s poetry collections have won an Authors’ Foundation Award and Saboteur Award, and she is a recipient of the Keats-Shelley Prize. Katrina’s poetry has appeared on Poems on the Underground, BBC Radio 4’s Front Row and Poetry Please, and in The TLS, The Poetry Review and Modern Poetry in Translation. She has a PhD from Goldsmiths, tutors for Arvon and the Poetry Society, and chairs the Society of Authors’ Poetry and Spoken Word Group. Katrina lives in Penzance.
