Thank you for your ongoing support, it is very much appreciated - from the ITO team; Al, Joseph, Rob and Stephen.
It is our pleasure to announce, a collaboration between The Photo Parlour and the Inside the Outside Collective, to hold a book-making and sequencing workshop with John Blakemore, supported by Joseph Wright, at the Photo Parlour lab in Nottingham.
John is an inspirational photographer and throughout his extensive career he has always expressed the importance of sequencing and presenting work in handmade books.
Joseph strongly believes photographs are best viewed in printed form, preferably books, and as well as creating handmade books he has also demonstrated how it is possible to take handmade concepts and blend them artistically with commercial printing practices.
This workshop will demonstrate important skills and knowledge for any creative photographer and is a rare collaborative opportunity not to be missed!
Places are strictly limited to 8 so please book early to avoid disappointment!
Day One - Why Make Books?
In the first session, we will be discussing the importance of the photographic book and sequencing work. We will begin by looking at a selection of beautiful handmade books. John will then demonstrate how to make several types of unique, handmade books throughout the morning.
Towards the end of this session we will be reviewing participant's images and assisting them in sequencing and editing their work. Participants are required to bring in a collection of their printed work which they wish to turn into a handmade book.
Participants do not require any equipment for the first session but will be given a list of items they will require to make their books prior to the event.
Day Two - Make your own!
In the second session, we will assist participants in creating a unique, handmade book of their own design. Although you are required to provide some of your own materials for creating your book with, we will be providing some of the more difficult to find materials like book cloth, etc.
By the end of day two you will leave with a finished and beautifully crafted book of your own design.
The workshop studio is accessed by three flights of stairs.
- The event runs over both days of a weekend, Sat 15th and Sun 16th Oct '16.
- Each day will begin at 10am and wraps up at ~4pm.
- Workshop attendees are responsible for their own travel, food and accomodation requirements.
- Full workshop joining details will be provided in advance of the workshop.
- A full no quibble refund policy applies.
In the meantime, please keep an eye on social media and our website for other related announcements.
