About this event

Community • City & Town

In this free and exclusive book talk, Vic Keegan will explore some of Westminster's forgotten history - the buildings and features that have been lost to time.

His journey began on discovering a long-forgotten prison, which had sat on the road he lived for decades. From there, his research led him to hidden gardens, the site of the world's first circus, and 'larger than life' statues, amongst many others.

In this talk, Vic will discuss some of these fascinating sites. There will be the chance to ask questions and a book signing where limited copies of Lost London will be available for purchase.

About the speaker:

Vic Keegan spent most of his working life at The Guardian, editing and writing about economics and consumer technology for 40 years. He has written six poetry books including London My London with over 80 poems about the capital and the Thames. He is married to Rosie with two children, Dan and Chris.

This event is part of our Heritage Open Days festival: Barracks, Bombs, and Buckingham Palace.

Taking place at The Guards Museum on the 13th and 14th September, join us for a free weekend of history and culture with something for the whole family. Whether its a trip to the re-enactors camp, handling objects from our collection, or simply sitting back and enjoying the sounds of live vintage music from Lancashire Belle.
