Bookbinding - decorative stitch

Learn a range of decorative bookbinding stitches and fastening techniques with local bookbinder Cassandra Barron, resulting in a finished, leather-bound book at the end of each class.
This series of bookbinding classes continue on from a recent course at Creative Exchange in Leith and will introduce 4 new stitches (pictured above) over the four weeks, Monday evenings, 6.30-8.30pm:
8 May: Straight stitch / button fastening (middle top picture)
15 May: V stitch (far right picture)
22 May: Open spine binding (far left picture)
29 May: Staggered stitch (middle bottom picture)
You are welcome to join for one or more classes, at a cost of £12 per class (£9.60 concession), or join Cass for all four classes at a discounted price of £40 (£32 concession).
All materials and equipment will be provided but if you would like to bring along any patterned papers, maps, photographs, ribbons and/or buttons to incourporate into your book/s, please do so.
Beginners are welcome: step-by-step instructions and demonstrations will be provided in each class and you will leave with your own hand made book and the skills to make many more.
Books can be used as note books, journals, sketchbooks and also double up as great presents.

*granton:hub or course tutor (acting as representative) reserves the right on commencement of course or workshop, to ask any attendees or participants to show prove of entitlement to either state benefit(s) or pension if a 'concession' payment is made online. Wheelchair Access: Although granton:hub takes every step to be inclusive and accessible to all members of the public. Currently, granton:hub at Madelvic House (B-listed building) can not guarantee ease of use or full access to all wheelchair users without further additional changes being made to the front door and toilet areas of building.
Wheelchair ramps will be provided and there is levl access throughout but there is no wheelchair accessible toilet. For further enquires about the venue contact granton:hub.
