Imagine spending an autumn day within the ancient stone walls of Herstmonceux Castle, immersed in the quiet, satisfying craft of bookmaking. Join us for a unique half-day workshop where history and hands-on creativity meet.
Under the expert guidance of artist and bookmaker Kirsty Brooks, you will learn the traditional skills of stitched-bookbinding to create your own small, personalised journal or sketchbook. This is a complete beginner's course, where you will be introduced to the fundamental structures and material qualities of paper, board, and book cloth.
Through the meditative processes of cutting, folding, stitching, and gluing, you will transform a simple kit of beautiful materials into a finished, functional work of art—a tangible memory of your day at the Castle.
