Course Aims and Objectives
This course will:
- Update Leaders on new Bookbug resources for practitioners and families
- Refresh Leaders' Bookbug Sessions with new song, rhyme and book suggestions
- Support discussion around the joys and challenges of leading Bookbug Sessions and give everyone a chance to share best practice
Eligibility Criteria
Delegates must have already attended our day long Bookbug Session Leader training course, delivered face to face by either a Scottish Book Trust trainer or by a locally trained professional. If you are unsure if you have attended Bookbug Session Leader training, please get in touch with us and we will check our records.
By registering for this training, you confirm that:
- You have read our eligibility criteria and you are eligible to apply for this training course
- You understand that if found to be ineligible, you will be asked to withdraw.
Accessing the training session - technical requirements
To attend this session you will need -
- You will need a computer, laptop or tablet that has a camera and microphone, and you are required to be seen and heard to participate. If you don't turn your microphone and camera on, you may be asked to leave the training session. If you have the option, a laptop or computer is better. A mobile phone is not suitable due to the format of the training.
- To be able to access Zoom. Before the session starts, please check if your organisation allows access to Zoom using work devices by joining a test meeting to check your connection. If it does not, we suggest that you use a personal device if appropriate.
What to expect at our online training session
In an online training course, you need to have a device that connects to the internet with working audio, camera and microphone. The trainer and other delegates will be able to see you and speak with you directly and you will be able to directly participate. All attendees must be registered individually on the training course and participate on their on their own individual device. The number of people attending is limited to a maximum of 12 people.

Confirmation email
When you register for this training session, you will receive an email from Eventbrite confirming your place. If you do not receive this email, please check your spam folder and check the email address that you entered on Eventbrite. This is the email address we will use to contact you with your link to join the session, so if it’s incorrect you will not be able to access the session.
No longer able to attend? Please let us know as soon as possible
If you have registered and can no longer able to attend please let us know as soon as possible. We understand that unforeseen circumstances happen. Due to the session being limited to only 12 people, there is often a waiting list, so we may be able to offer your place to another person. Either cancel you space through Eventbrite or email bookbugtraining@scottishbooktrust.com or call 0131 541 2342 to let us know.

Bookbug Coordinators and Scottish Book Trust will only contact you in relation to Bookbug training, local Bookbug programme updates and to request your feedback. By attending a funded Bookbug training course you are consenting to your data being shared in this way.

Bookbug gifts free book bags to every baby, toddler, 3 and 5-year old in Scotland. We also run free Bookbug Sessions across the country. These story, song and rhyme sessions encourage positive interaction between parents and children.
