Event description

Description

Limited places: only 10 spaces available

Our series of ‘Books in Focus’ sessions focuses on artists’ books and archive material held in the special collections of the National Galleries of Scotland. This session will examine the work of Aubrey Beardsley (1872-1898), whose elegant, sinuous and often grotesque illustrations came to embody the Aestheticism movement in Britain in the last years of the 19th century. We will look at his extensive contributions to the important periodical The Yellow Book, in addition to his illustrations Oscar Wilde’s 1891 play Salome.

This event will take place in the Reading Room at Modern Two

If you reserve a space but find you can no longer attend, please let us know by either sending an email to gmaarchives@nationalgalleries.org or phone 0131 624 6210 so we can offer your space to someone on the waiting list.
