Description

BookTrust Cymru’s annual conferences have become a staple of the early years calendar in Wales. The conferences focus on giving practitioners the chance to hear great speakers, attend inspiring workshops and share practical ideas for using books, stories and rhymes with children and families.

This year’s conference will focus on BookTrust’s vision of every child reading for pleasure. Throughout the day, we’ll address the following key questions:

• What are the benefits of reading for pleasure?
• How do we support every child in Wales (0-5) to experience these benefits?
• How do we reach every child – and who might be missing out?
• What practice can we apply to really help children and families to experience these benefits?

Our keynote speaker will be Dr Deborah Robinson, Assistant Professor from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Nottingham. Deborah is an expert in SEND and a passionate advocate of reading for pleasure for children with additional learning needs. She’ll be exploring the benefits of reading for pleasure and practice that can engage children with a range of needs in her keynote address and workshop.

The conference will include a combination of speakers, longer workshops and shorter information and practice-sharing sessions. Throughout the day, we’ll be connecting the ideas in the sessions to the four current Bookstart titles available to families in Wales. All delegates will take away ten copies of each of these titles to use with children and families as part of their Bookstart Superboxes – forty books in total!

Follow @BookTrustCymru #everychildreadingforpleasure and #booktrustcymruconference19 to keep up to date with speaker and workshop announcements!

The conferences are open to all practitioners working in the early years field in Wales. The conference will focus on children aged 0-4 years.

Mae cynadleddau blynyddol BookTrust Cymru bellach yn rhan greiddiol yng nghalendr y blynyddoedd cynnar yng Nghymru. Mae’r cynadleddau’n canolbwyntio ar roi’r cyfle i ymarferwyr glywed siaradwyr gwych, mynd i weithdai i’w hysbrydoli, a rhannu syniadau ymarferol am sut i ddefnyddio llyfrau, storïau a rhigymau gyda phlant a theuluoedd.

Bydd y gynhadledd eleni yn canolbwyntio ar weledigaeth BookTrust bod pob plentyn yn darllen er pleser. Drwy gydol y dydd, byddwn yn ystyried y cwestiynau allweddol canlynol:
• Beth yw manteision darllen er pleser?
• Sut mae cynorthwyo pob plentyn yng Nghymru (0-5 oed) i brofi’r manteision hyn?

• Pa arferion allwn ni eu cymhwyso i wirioneddol helpu plant a theuluoedd i brofi’r manteision hyn?

Ein prif siaradwr fydd Dr Deborah Robinson, Athro Cynorthwyol o Gyfadran y Gwyddorau Cymdeithasol ym Mhrifysgol Nottingham. Mae Deborah yn arbenigo ym maes AAA ac Anableddau ac mae’n eirioli’n angerddol dros ddarllen er pleser i blant sydd ag anghenion dysgu ychwanegol. Yn ei phrif anerchiad ac mewn gweithdy, bydd yn archwilio manteision darllen er pleser ac arferion a all greu cyswllt â phlant sydd ag amrywiaeth o anghenion.

Bydd y gynhadledd yn cynnwys cyfuniad o siaradwyr, gweithdai hwy a sesiynau byrrach i rannu gwybodaeth ac arferion. Drwy gydol y dydd, byddwn yn creu cyswllt rhwng y syniadau yn y sesiynau a phedwar llyfr presennol Dechrau Da sydd ar gael i deuluoedd yng Nghymru. Caiff deg copi o bob un o’r llyfrau hyn eu rhoi i bawb a fydd yn bresennol, i’w defnyddio gyda phlant a theuluoedd fel rhan o Flwch Gwych Dechrau Da – cyfanswm o ddeugain llyfr!
