Event description

Description

The first season of new monthly Brum poetry night BOOM is upon us and what a line-up we have for you!

BOOM is a new monthly poetry night for Brum which will take place on the first Wednesday of each and every month. Each night will have a national poetry headliner along with two local or emerging features. There will be a set amount of open mic opportunities - arrive early to sign up. Our regular host is Leon Priestnall (HOWL), our house DJ is DJ Grit'n'grind (formerly Hit The Ode). Can you afford not to be a regular attender at BOOM? Can you REALLY?

The headliner of our October show is the incredible OLLIE O'NEILL!! Ollie's performance at Verve 2018 as part of the OutSpoken Press Showcase was mindblowing, so we jsut had to have her to headline our first season of BOOM.Her debut pamphlet, Ways of Coping, publsihed with Outspoken asks what it means to be a woman with Borderline Personality Disorder. Her performance style brings her poetry to startling, stirring new life. You don't want to miss this super young poet perform.

Supporting her are two glorious local poets - Verve Poetry Press Punjabi Brummie poet Rupinder Kaur, and storming new-comer to scene both locally and nationally, Jemimia Hughes. We are so pleased with this line-up and know it's going to be a storming, day before National Poetry Day event!

Tickets on the door will be £6, so it's cheaper to book online.:) Also online ticket buyers will be entered into a prize draw to receive two free tickets to the November 6 BOOM :)

See you there! :)
