Frequently asked questions

What do I wear?

It is fine to wear your normal clothes but important to wear clothing that is comfortable as any discomfort may prevent you from relaxing fully.

Do I need to lie down?

Yoga Nidra is traditionally practiced lying down as this is the position in which we normally go to sleep. When lying down, keep the feet slightly wider than hip width apart, keep you arms away from your side, palms facing up and tuck your chin slightly towards your chest so the neck is extended.

Can I do the practice sitting up?

It is possible to do the practice sitting up in a comfortable chair. Do keep your feet flat on the floor and separated hip width apart so that you are stable in your chair and able to relax fully.

What should I expect?

You will close your eyes and focus on my voice and the instructions that I give. You may come in and out of the practice and this is absolutely normal as you drop in and out of consciousness. This is how the brain is trained to operate at lower brainwave frequencies.

What is the magic of Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra works on both a physical and mental level simultaneously. Physically we experience the release of energy and heart opening as the body descends into sleep. Mentally our mind becomes quiet and we are able to observe our thoughts.

I've been on my own personal development journey for over 20 years and I believe Yoga Nidra is the most powerful tool for personal development.

It regulates the nervous system, bringing greater emotional resilience and more mental clarity.

And that is just the starting point.

Yoga Nidra can also be used to clear the unconscious mind of unhelpful conditioning and to support the self-development journey by creating a felt-sense of higher levels of development on both a physical and mental level, allowing for new neural pathways and muscle memory (particularly around breathing) that support transitions.
