Event description

Description

After the raging success of last year's Bootle Beer Festival, you asked for more! More music, more real ales and more family fun! Well here it is...the Bootle Music Festival - a family music event situated in a stunning location on the banks of the historic Liverpool-Leeds canal! From 1pm - 8pm on both Sat 25th & Sun 26th August, the canal-side will come alive with an incredible line-up of talent....

We are delighted to confirm our headline act for Saturday 25th is the internationally acclaimed

Brothers, Patrick and Gregory Kane hailing from Coatbridge, Scotland were active in the explosion of popular culture in the 80s. With Greg hammering a funky piano line beneath Pat’s lightning fast rap-esque vocals, backed by synths and a huge reverb drenched snare, Hue & Cry retained a soulful edge which became part of their signature sound. Hits such as 'Labour of Love' 'Looking For Linda' and 'Violently' sit alongside tracks from their latest album release ‘Pocketful Of Stones’ - described by Pat as “about sensing that time is running out for you to do everything you need and want to do...if “half a century has piled up” (as the title track lyrics put it), then you must know something by now.”

Joining Saturday's line-up are Liverpool's very own......

We couldn't be happier to welcome 'home' the 'Realies'! During the late 80s, Liverpool's own 'The Real People' were pivotal in reinventing rock & roll, with their 1989 self titled album and the singles "Open Up your Mind", "Window Pane"' and "The Truth"' all released to critical acclaim. Their influence is apparent, not least when they gained acknowledgment for their role in developing Oasis with songwriting credits on "Rocking Chair" and an agreement that without their help Oasis would never have sounded the way they did. Listing their own influences as: Bowie, Beatles and Bolan with a touch of Pistols thrown into the mix, they remain one of the truly great live bands, as their fans will testify!

Sunday 26th is going to be another amazing line-up showcasing more home-grown talent...so who better to headline than one of the 'Pool's favourite sons - the legendary Tommy Scott from..

Space came to prominence throughout the mid-1990s with hit singles such as 'Female of the Species', 'Me and you versus the World', 'Neighbourhood', 'Avenging Angels' and 'The Ballard of Tom Jones' - the latter a duet with Cerys Matthews of Catatonia. Later albums include 'Attack of the Mutant 50ft Kebab', released in 2014, having all of Space’s signature quirkiness and more, which Tommy describes as a ‘mish-mash of SKA, punk and classic Space’ and the 2017 release 'Give Me Your Future'.

Support acts on both days will be an eclectic mix of the established and emerging local talent - From ABBA tributes to Gospel Choirs, there is something for all the family so prepare to party!
