Event description

Description

After their sell-out baby opera sensation A Winter Tale, B’Opera present Alice and the Library Tree - A Curious Tale, a magical, musical adventure for little ones (particularly recommended for children age 0-6) and their grown ups. Alice and the Library Tree was originally commissioned by FOLIO Sutton Coldfield and funded by Arts Council England.

“We both absolutely loved it from start to finish! It’s rare to find a show so obviously built for little people at its heart.” Facebook review of Sing A Rainbow

Alice and the Library Tree is an interactive performance for little ones and their grown-ups exploring the wonder of libraries and how they inspire curiosity.
Commissioned by FOLIO Sutton Coldfield Alice and the Library Tree combines storytelling and music, created by local children’s opera company B’Opera.

When a storm damages her beloved library tree and the Queen of Hearts orders it to be chopped down Alice must learn to stand up for what she believes in, along with perseverance and some roof repair skills, to get the library re-opened.

Will Alice be any match for the White Rabbit and evil Queen of Hearts? Will her Fairy Godmother do what fairy godmothers are supposed to do and actually start helping?

Come and find out in this magical interactive production, which takes you and your little ones on a whistlestop tour of beautiful music by Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini and Wagner, woven around nursery rhymes and folksong, all sprinkled with musical fairy dust by B'Opera's resident composer, Phil!

Shows last around 40 minutes with time for play afterwards.

Reviews of our previous shows:

“Easily the best kids’ show I’ve seen”

“There was so much to love… it was truly relaxed - the children were free to walk and explore the entire place. It introduced my little one to the beauty of opera with familiar rhymes and songs ingeniously woven into a colourful rainbow tale! The performers were amazing. So talented, warm and engaging. We both absolutely loved it from start to finish! It’s rare to find a show so obviously built for little people at its heart.”

My 5 month old was completely captivated from start to finish. I will definitely bring my toddler along with me next time she will love it!”

“We had a great time today! It was perfect entertainment for both my 3 year old and 6 month old - which isn’t always easy to find! You’re warm, friendly and talented folk - thanks!!”

”It was engaging and entertaining, professional and fantastic. My son loved every minute of the performance. It was his first time attending and he was captivated. Age 15 months.”

“My 4 month old loved the music, singing, colours and sensory toys (bubbles/feathers/balloons/silk cloths) that were incorporated into the performance.”
