Think Bordeaux is all posh and snobby? Think again.
Bordeaux has made a lasting impact on the world of wine – from being the birthplace of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to shaping generations of winemakers. For centuries, it’s charmed the British, birthed ‘Claret’, and built an empire of world-class blends. But behind the grand labels lies a region rooted in craftsmanship, community, and a deep love of the vine.
This September, we’re welcoming Château Monbrison for our next Meet the Winemaker Supper Club in Fleet Street. Taking to the spotlight at our Humble Grape wine bar, the winemaker will travel from Bordeaux to host an unforgettable evening celebrating their esteemed wines.
Monbrison’s roots run deep in the region. In 1922, an American pastor married into Bordeaux wine royalty and bought Château Monbrison. Bombed in WWII, revived by his daughter, and now run by grandson Laurent and his four kids, the estate blends tradition with bio-biodynamic rebellion – proving great wine (and grit) runs in the family.
After a welcome drink, the winemaker will guide you through the 3-hour session, so you can sip, swirl, and savour each drop as we unveil the hidden stories and secret techniques behind five iconic bottles.
Each wine will be perfectly paired with five dishes from Bordeaux, crafted by our talented Executive Chef.
The evening wine line-up includes:
