Description

Topic

Join us to a very topical seminar led by Professor Sonia Blandford that will take the current conversation about inequality in Britain. What have we learned, and failed to learn, about the working class in Britain? What is the meaning of true social mobility, and what could the potential impact of this concept be on society as a whole?

About the speaker

Professor Sonia Blandford, who was born into poverty in the 1950s is now Founder and CEO of Achievement for All and one of the UK's leading practitioners of education. Sonia is passionate about raising the aspirations and improving the attainment of all children and young people regardless of their background or need. She was named in the 2016 Debrett's list of the Top 500 Most Influential People in the UK and is currently a trustee of the new Chartered College of Teaching. She calls for MPs, policy makers and the wider society to take action in her commonsense manifesto 'Born to Fail? Social Mobility: A Working Class View’.
