Borrow Cup: Impact and insights from the UK’s biggest returnable cup scheme
Overview
According to Zero Waste Scotland, 388 million disposable cups are used in Scotland each year, and while 3 in 4 of us own a personal reusable cup, only a third of us say we use one at least once a month (Hubbub,2024). That’s why we launched Borrow Cup: a collaborative system by environmental charity Hubbub and reuse startup Reposit, making it easier to borrow and return a reusable cup between major brands and local independents including Costa Coffee, Caffè Nero and Burger King.
Join us as we explore:
✅ Key results and learnings from the past nine months
✅ What this means for customers, businesses and the environment
✅ How we can create meaningful change to boost the scale and impact of reusable packaging systems
Together, we’ll unpack the barriers, motivators and opportunities in reuse schemes - and share what businesses, industry and policymakers can do to support change.
