Event description

Description

The National Sikh Soc Day is for all members of University and college Sikh Societies across the UK. The day has been designed to help unite, engage and empower Sikh students for the academic year ahead.

On the day there will be workshops that will accredit you with skills such as leadership, event management, conflict resolutions amongst others. There will be discussions on the role we all play collectively in the UK and plenty of opportunities to network with like-minded and supportive students and groups.

The day long workshop is FREE and includes drinks, lunch and snacks but you MUST register before Friday 25th August 2017 if you wish to attend.

PLEASE NOTE: NEW BOSS FRESHER'S PACKS 2017/18 WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR COLLECTION ON THIS DAY.

FAQs

What's the venue like?

We are very lucky to once more secure exclusive access to the Impact Hub Birmingham headquarters. We cannot think of a better and more creative venue to inspire and encourage us for the year ahead.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Our event is taking place in an exciting location in the heart of Birmingham city centre, just a stone's throw from the iconic Bullring.

Birmingham New Street and Moor Street are the local train stations and Impact Hub is just a 10-minute walk away.
There is a street level car parking available around the building and 2 car parks nearby that charge just £2 parking for the day.

If you are having trouble organising transport for the day please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will try our best to help you out.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

You can get in touch with us by ringing or texting us on: 07935 900 546 or 07912 508032.

Alternatively, email us at info@boss-uk.org or send us a message on Facebook through our BOSS page.

What can I expect to do on the day?

This event is designed to get like-minded Sikh students from across the country together to enable and empower you in running a strong and successful Sikh society at your university for the academic year ahead.

Once you have registered we will send you a timetable for the day so you know what to expect.

Be ready to engage and apply yourself - there will be a lot covered on the day and hopefully lots of useful information to take back with you to implement into your local Sikh Soc.

I'm not sure if this event is suitable for me. Can I still attend?

The training day is aimed at Sikhs who are studying in further or higher education or are helping to run a local Sikh Society group. In previous years we have found that the societies that attend with the majority from their group benefit the most, so it definitely pays to drag as many of your friends along as possible. The more the merrier! If you are part of a Sikh Society we would recommend at a minimum 3-4 members of your committee attend. If you are not on a committee but are interested in doing seva for Sikhi then register and come along too. There is something for everyone to take away from the day.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

We will provide you with everything that you need on the day though you might want to bring a notepad and pen to jot down any ideas or interesting facts you hear on the day.

We need you to bring your best ideas and views with you. Be ready to engage with us and everyone around you to get the most out of the day for your Sikh Soc.

I have a specific question I wish to talk to you about?

We know some of you are keen to speak to us about individual events or issues you may have at your Sikh soc. We are just as keen to help you with them! Come and speak to us at the event and we can help advise and support you on anything you might want to know.

What's for lunch?

Have no fear, we will be providing you with plenty of drinks and brain food throughout the day and we'll be providing a vegetarian lunch too. If you have any dietary requirements please do let us know and we will try our best to accommodate you.
