Event description

Description

"Sky has a wealth of knowledge and provides info that can be hard to find elsewhere"

Why sell one product, when you can sell 100 to just a handfull of customers? Welcome to wholesaling. It sounds utterly wonderful and it is a key stage of growth for any small indie brand. It's also ruddy hard work and if you're like me, you have absolutely no idea where to start.

Luckily the wonderful Bristol-based Sky Procter of Sky Siouki has all kinds of insider knowledge. It wasn't easy, but through perserverance, professionalism and bad-ass business decision-making, Sky has turned amazing trade show experiences at expos including Top Drawer London and British Craft Trade Fair Harrogate, into successfull commercial relationships with numerous independent galleries and shops throughout the UK.

That’s why we were keen to get the talented Sky Procter, of Sky Siouki, to co-host a workshop dedicated to the wholesale process and her experience.

At this event centred around Sky's own experiences and successes, we'll discuss:

  • Trade shows: costs and what to expect.
  • Pricing your work
  • Minimum orders and quantities
  • Shipping options and lead times
  • Invoicing and payment
  • Following up customers
  • Selling wholesale through a website
  • What Sky has learnt from mistakes

Who's the workshop for?

This workshop will be aimed at informing small business owners, freelance creatives, makers and sellers on Sky’s experience in wholesale.

This 2-hour session is perfect for anyone hoping to get started in selling wholesale and makers who want tips to improve preparation for their next trade event. There is an additional, optional 30 minute(ish) time for mingling, writing up notes, and asking any lingering questions.

About Sky Procter from Sky Siouki

Our host, Sky Procter, set up the art and illustration brand, Sky Siouki, in 2013. She sells a range of high quality and ethically-made homewares printed with wildlife inspired designs alongside original artworks from the South West.

From luxury coasters to gorgeous giclée prints, Sky stocks her unique products in independent stockists across the country, from Orkney to Kent.

About Studio Cotton

Studio Cotton is a lovely little marketing agency and small business studio in the centre of Bristol. Located on the top floor of a historic Bristol building, this intimate and casual venue is designed for maximum creativity, comfort and tea consumption.

Accessibility

Studio Cotton is located on the third floor of a listed building, and unfortunately the building’s elevator only travels to the second floor. For this reason, there is no step-free access available.

Transport

Studio Cotton is located in the centre of Bristol and served by most public transport routes. Parking on the other hand is a little trickier. There is limited Pay & Display parking available.

The closest multi-story car parks are Queen Charlotte Street, Nelson Street and The Galleries Shopping Centre, at the time of writing The Galleries Shopping Centre offers affordable parking after 5pm Monday to Saturday and all-day on Sundays - but do check this before you make your journey.

Contacting the Host

If you have any questions about the workshop or venue, you can contact Studio Cotton who can be contacted by hello@studiocotton.co.uk or call 0117 2440030. We aim to reply to your message within 2 working days.
